After your arrival at Entebbe International Airpot, you'll connect to your domestic flight to Kihihi Airstrip near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The 1.5 hour flight offers breathtaking aerial views of Uganda’s rolling hills, forests, lakes, and rural landscapes. Upon arrival at Kihihi, meet your private safari guide and transfer to your lodge in your safari vehicle. The drive to your lodge typically takes 1-2 hours. NOTE: The domestic flight departs at 7am, 10:30am, and 1pm. Plan to arrive to Entebbe International Airport in the morning with enough time to go through Immigration and Customs prior to your domestic flight. If your only international flight options will result in you arrive late, please plan to arrive the day before and lodging in Entebbe can be arranged (additional costs will apply). Please make note in the Special Requests section of the request form.

Batwa Cultural Experience
Add-on
The afternoon can be used to relax and recover from your travels if you wish. Alternatively, you may spend time with the Batwa people, the indigenous forest dwellers who called Bwindi home for thousands of years before the park was established in 1992. Led by community guides, the walk takes you through villages and homesteads while sharing the history and daily life of this resilient community. Along the way, Batwa guides demonstrate ancient hunting techniques, fire-making, and the use of handmade traps and tools, along with their knowledge of herbal medicine drawn from the forest. The visit closes with traditional Batwa music, dance, and storytelling that reflect their deep and enduring connection to the land they once called home.

Your impact

  • For the Batwa, evicted from Bwindi with no compensation when the park was established in 1991, community-led tourism is one of the few direct income streams available to them. Revenue funds education, healthcare, and programs that preserve their music, craftsmanship, and oral traditions.
